We've had a new Clio (06 model) since April. Its a 1.5 DCi (86bhp) Dynamique S.

Compared to the old Clio it is HUGE. It actually has the same interior space as the Megane, although the boot is a bit smaller.

Its a good car to drive. We've done about 8000 miles in ours since getting it and every one has been comfortable. Both my wife and I drive it and we can both find comfortable positions. We had 2 older Clios before this one and it was difficult to get comfy on long trips. Plus you always felt you were going to fall out because the seats were so high. The new one is much better.

The car has plenty of power for a 1.5 diesel. It feels VERY fast, and we've come straight from an older style 182 to this one, so we know what a fast Clio should feel like!

The good thing about our model is that it only costs £50 a year to tax. Bargain!

We showed the car off to my Dad just after we got it and now he's got one too. They're that good!

Reliability has been fine. No squeeks or rattles as yet (touch wood). It seems to be much more solidly built than the older Clios which is never a bad thing. And with more airbags than a bouncy castle factory and an NCAP rating of 5 stars, its a good all round buy.

My clio diesel has done 92000 miles and has been 100% reliable and cheap to run. I get 67 mpg and cruise at 70-80 and the handling and roadholding are excellent.

the local Renault dealer, a branch of Dixon Motors is complete rubbish and you may need to search around for the best dealer for servicing.

Another answerer has suggested a Grand Punto, I also run one of these and I wish i had never bought it, the engine is the turbo diesel and because of turbo lag it is the most dangerous car I have ever driven. My particular car has been reliable but see www.fiatforum.com for stories of bad worksmanship and faulty steering racks.

The Clio gives good value for money.

depends which year and model. It can vary. Personally I think they're great and very sporty. They're also comfortable enough to go touring for miles and miles which I've done in the highlands with a clio. I think the newer ones , i.e. clios 4 years old and newer are very reliable.

they aren't too bad, some are very fast.

but if i had the money for a new car i would not go with a clio.

They're ok, but I personally prefer the Fiat Grande Punto myself, whic is one of the cheapest small cars on the market, which happens to be rather roomy, nice to drive, and probably the best looker in it's class.
